What you still owe, the payments against it, and what it is secured on.

Plain words in

Say what happened. FiveTips does the accounting.

Pick “Spending”, “Paid for someone” or “They paid you back”, fill in the amount, and you are done. Behind it, every entry is a balanced double-entry record.

  • Split a bill — your share is spending, the rest is owed to you by name.
  • Built-in calculator in every amount field, on the phone too.
  • Recurring items — rent, salary and monthly investments post themselves.
  • Bank statements — import CSV or Excel files, match and categorise in bulk.
The Add sheet on a phone: Spending, Income, Transfer, Refund, Paid for someone, Money lent, They paid you back, Money borrowed and more.
Money with people

Know exactly who owes whom

Lend to a friend, pay a bill for your brother, share rent with a flatmate. FiveTips keeps a running net balance for every person — money for someone else never shows up as your income.

  • Net per person, after what you owe each other.
  • Expected dates and reminders for money due back.
  • Repayments settle the balance — never counted as income.
The People page: net owed to you, net you owe, and each person’s balance and status.
What you own and owe

A real balance sheet for your household

Accounts in dirhams, dollars and rupees; a flat in Pune; a fund in the US; the family car. FiveTips values everything in your home currency with dated exchange rates and shows what you are worth — with a balance check on every report.

  • Multi-currency accounts, dated rates and revaluation.
  • Joint ownership — only your share counts towards your net worth.
  • 18 reports, from net worth history to a trial balance — export to a spreadsheet or print.

Proper books, without the jargon

Accounting you can trust — whether or not you are an accountant

The same principles a business uses, working quietly underneath. If you like to see the workings, they are all there.

Every entry balances

Debits equal credits on every record, checked by the database itself — not just the screen.

History is never rewritten

Edits and deletions are recorded as reversals, with a full audit trail of who changed what.

Close a period

Lock a month once it is reconciled so nothing earlier changes by accident.

Questions & answers

Good to know

How does the free trial work?

Every new account gets 14 days of full access, set by our servers when you sign up. No payment details are needed to start.

What happens to my data when the trial ends?

It stays exactly as you left it. Your account moves to the Free plan — income, expenses and transfers, 20 a month — and everything else stays visible. Compare plans or upgrade to Pro at any time.

Do I need to know accounting?

No. You choose what happened in plain words — spending, income, paid for someone, money lent — and FiveTips writes the accounting entries. The detail is there if you want it: trial balance, general ledger and manual journals.

Which currencies can I use?

Any. You choose a home currency, then hold accounts, investments and property in other currencies with dated exchange rates. Reports are in your home currency.

Can I share my books with my partner or accountant?

Yes. Invite a partner who can record with you, or an adviser who can view but not change anything. Each person signs in with their own account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. FiveTips works in any modern browser, and you can install it on your phone’s home screen like an app.

Is FiveTips for businesses?

FiveTips is built for households. It handles side income and freelance invoices well, but it is not a business accounting or tax system, and it does not give financial advice.
