Security & privacy

Your finances are yours alone

You are trusting FiveTips with your household’s money. Here is exactly how it is protected — in plain words.

Your books are sealed off in the database itself

Every read and every change is checked by the database against who you are and which books you belong to — not just by the screens. Someone who is not a member of your books cannot see them, even if they know where to look.

You decide who else sees them

Invite a partner who can record with you, or an adviser or accountant who can only view. Everyone signs in with their own account, and you can remove access at any time.

The accounting rules are enforced on the server

Every entry must balance, belong to your own accounts and respect any period you have closed. Records are never edited in place: changes are posted as reversals, with an audit trail of who did what.

Encrypted in transit and at rest

FiveTips is only served over HTTPS, and browsers are told never to use an unencrypted connection. Your data is stored on Supabase’s managed PostgreSQL, which encrypts stored data at rest.

Passwords are never stored

Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth, which keeps only a salted hash of your password. Password resets go by email to you.

Receipts and documents stay private

Attachments are kept in private storage tied to your books and opened through links that expire after a few minutes.

Our administrators do not see your finances

The tools the FiveTips team uses to manage accounts and trials show account and subscription details only — never your balances, transactions or documents.

Nothing is deleted when a trial ends

If your trial ends or your access is paused, the app simply pauses. Your books are kept exactly as they were.

Take your data with you, or delete it

Download spreadsheets or a full backup at any time. The owner of a set of books can delete them permanently from Settings → Your data.

Spotted something that doesn’t look right, or have a question about your data? Tell us — we read every message.
